UHF
UHF is widely used by public service agencies. A high-quality UHF system is a radio modem suitable for various data transfer applications. The modem has to be capable of handling high update rates and precision.

WI-FI networks use standard IEEE 802.11 technologies to provide secure, reliable, fast wireless connectivity. WI-FI allows LANs to be mobilized without cabling. Wireless LANs can be used for spaces where cables are not an option, such as vessel to vessel, crane pontoons and offshore rigs.

GPRS/UMTS
GPRS is packet-switched, which means that multiple users share the same transmission channel and only transmit when they have data to send. The total available bandwidth can be immediately used by those who are actually sending at any given moment, providing higher use where users only send or receive data intermittently. When UHF loses the desired reach in urban areas, UMTS can easily take over.
Underwater communication
Underwater data transmission is often a necessity for underwater monitoring applications. Seabed represents communication systems which significantly improve data transmission. After extensive research, many high-performance modulation schemes have been developed which effectively reduce the physical barriers to underwater communication.
